Conceptualise
A Name, Logo Designs and
Brand using the template provided that show the exploration of how
the experience could be felt by
the customer.
Come up with
3 key future fit CVPs that would entice the demographic to use this app.
Let’s start off with a
NAME
At First
When I first began the challenge, I created and mocked up the very first thing that came to mind:
introducing AURAPAY, a non-conventional fintech app suitable for this fast-paced world.
I had impulsively started designing screens and brainstorming ideas for a finance app aimed at helping customers save money through features like "save goals" and bill summaries. However, similar to my past experiences, I soon realized that with Aurapay, the challenge wasn't just about design, but about creating a product that truly met the criteria and served the intended demographic. It became clear that Aurapay wasn't the right fit and had to be scrapped.

At this stage, I focused on the AI aspect of the product, which embodies the concept of "pushing the boundaries of today" and being "future fit." From a list of 100 words containing "AI", I came up with the name
RAINCHEQ
I got straight to sketchbooking, but what does it all mean?
-
The name contains "rain," so I'm looking for ways to incorporate a cloud theme. Raindrops may be too complex, so let's keep exploring!
-
Across all the typefaces I explored, the most differentiation was in the design of the 'Q' tail. Is this something worth exploring?
-
Here I explored orientation and applied it to 'R'. You can see that I found ways to create cloud symbols, referencing point 1 above.
-
I became fixated on using arrows and negative space to create symbols of direction, and the concept of 'sending' figurative money seemed to fit well with the overall idea.
-
Combining all my previous ideas of 'direction', 'clouds' and 'sending' with potential logo marks.
The Logo
-
Logo 1
Introducing, LOGO 1: A deeper dive and expansion of my sketchbook concepts, surrounding the cloud-like motifs and letter symbology
-
Breakdown
Applying the sketchbook ideas above, you can see the 'R' on its side, a 'Q' with a custom tail, and the use of directional symbols. Scaling down to thumbnail sizes helps showcase the logos effectively.

Logo 2
Versions 1-3
Constant reassessment and feedback loops help a designer improve every day. Although I was very proud of the results of Logo 1, I couldn’t overlook its inherent issues of scalability and complexity. That's why I ultimately led myself to refine and simplify it into what you see here as Logo 2: a more versatile, scalable, monochromatic design with a more professional iconography.
Which colour palette do you want it in?
“YES”
By using this custom colour palette that’s less conventional to traditional finance apps; white, blue, purples and greys, which are generally more saturated, I wanted to make this app seem less intimidating and more inviting to use as the demographic is an audience that’s just starting to learn how to manage their finances independently.
